Report Filters

Report Filters provide a myriad of options to filter your report by. To view the filtering options, click on the Report Filters tab.

Admitting Provider, Admitting Source, Admitting Provider Group, Attending Provider, DRG, Facility, Location, Financial Class etc. are just some of the many filters available to you.

These report filters are report specific, i.e. not all types of filters are available for all reports.

However, these filters all work similarly. By default, all values in all filters are selected and the Select All checkbox is checked for all filters.

If more than 250 options are possible for a filter, a Search box is provided to make it easier to find the specific option you are looking for.

When searching for items in the Report Filter, type in a partial or full phrase in the Search box and press the Search icon.  The items that match your search text will be displayed below the search box.  Select the items you wish to include in your filter.

The items selected will be displayed above the search box.  Separating the selected items from the search results makes it clearer on what you have selected to include in your filter.  You can use the Down Arrow at the top-right of the filter to view all of the items you selected.

The Report Filter also allows you to do a sub search within your search results.  In the search results below for provider ‘Smith’, we can further refine our search for any Smith that has ‘je’ in their name.

Filter SubSearch

To include a new search in your filter results, type in the new search text in the Search box and press the search icon.  Select the additional items to be included in the filter which will be displayed above the Search box.

When you are done with your filters, you can click the Go button to generate your report. Once a report is displayed, the Go button changes to Apply Filters.

Report filters differ in one major way from dataset filters. When you set report filters, and click Go, records that have already been retrieved from the database are filtered by the report filter criteria,

i.e. report filtering does not involve a call to the database. For this reason, report filters might return results faster than the dataset filter.

Note: Please note that because of space constraints, only the first 1,000 options are displayed under any filter. To view options beyond the first 1,000, you must use the Search textbox to narrow your options.
