Potential Duplicate Accounts

This report will identify abstracted cases that could be potential duplicates in ENCOR Abstracted. Potential duplicates flag as such at CMS and should be investigated prior to transmission of data. True duplicates should be deleted prior to transmission. If cases are deleted, the facility may need to abstract additional cases or re-abstract any cases that may return to abstraction.

To run this report:

Click on the Reporting Icon in ENCOR Abstracted. From the drop-down menu, hover over Data Quality and select Potential Duplicate Accounts

Choose the Quarter from the drop-down menu

Click “Go”

The Reason field will display the data elements that indicate why a case may be a duplicate.

If a case is identified as being a duplicate, the hospital will need to clarify which case is accurate and delete the other.

Note: Please disregard any potential duplicates for those measure sets you applied monthly sampling but have not sampled. Once the measure set is sampled, please run the report.
