Abstraction

Abstraction List: OP-29 Case Replacement

Video Tutorial available

OP-29 (OP-WB-29) requires the sample to not include cases that are not in the denominator.  Since cases must be abstracted before it can be determined if a case is in the denominator, some cases will be Measure Category Assignment B or may be ineligible for the population based on CPT modifiers applied to the case.  These cases do not count towards the denominator or the sample. Cases that are either Measure Category Assignment B or Ineligible will now be replaced in abstraction automatically.

In the example below, we have 3 cases to abstract.

A case is abstracted and is either ineligible or Measure Category Assignment B (Not in Population) as demonstrated below.

Once the case is saved and the abstraction page is displayed, the count of cases in abstraction has increased by one - there is one completed case (that was excluded from the measure for ineligibility or not in population) and 3 cases not started.  The case that was ineligible has been replaced.

Cases that are deleted from OP-29 will NOT be replaced.

The Workflow Audit will display the added case and the excluded case with the date the replacement occurred.
