Add/Edit Your Financial Indicator

Financial Indicator: Indicator List

 

The Indicator List page is intended for administrators who would like to view, add, edit or delete financial indicators.

To view the list of existing indicators, select Indicator List from under the Financial Indicators

section in the left hand menu.

This action displays the Indicator List page.

By default, all indicators are in a grid. You can select from the Show All, Show Mapped Indicators, and Show Unmapped Indicators to change the list view to show only the appropriate indicators. The information on this screen includes:

  • Indicator Name - clicking on the name displays the Financial Indicator Report,
  • Indicator Category,
  • Indicator Sub Category,
  • Indicator Type,
  • Owner, and
  • Manage - a red pushpin indicates that the indicator has not been mapped to any dashboard; a green pushpin indicates that the indicator has been mapped to a dashboard.

You can group the Indicator List by one or more columns, sort it in ascending or descending order, or filter the list by entering search criteria in the textboxes below the header row.

The Indicator List grid also comes with several navigation features such as page number links,

First, Prev, Next, Last, and All buttons. You can go to a specified page number.

You can also choose how many records are displayed per page using the Records per Page drop- down.

Note: Please note that Category is not related to Subcategory.

Note: Please note that buttons on Financial Indicator pages are color-coded. In pages where further actions need to be taken:

  • a green color button denotes Save,
  • a red color button denotes Cancel,
  • a blue color button denotes the third possible option on the page.

Indicator List: Adding a Financial Indicator 

To create a financial indicator, click the Add New Indicator icon at the bottom of the Indicator List. The Add Meta Data page is displayed. There are several details that can be added via this page:

  • Indicator Name* - this name must be If you enter an indicator name that already exists, the Indicator Name textbox changes color to red to indicate that an indicator by that name already exists,
  • Medisolv Indicator - this field is currently uneditable. Yes in this field means that this is an indicator created by Medisolv; No means that this is a custom indicator,
  • Category* - choose from an existing category, or create a new one to add the indicator to,
  • Sub Category* - choose from an existing subcategory, or create a new one to add the indicator to,
  • Indicator Type* - choose one of two types of indicators available in RAPID - General Ledger and Billing and Receivable
  • Favorable Trend* - choose which trend is considered better for the indicator - Higher or

Lower. If the trend is not known, select Unknown,

  • Calculation Type* - choose the formula that best fits the indicator,
  • Goals Set per System - this field is currently uneditable and defaults to By System,
  • Description - describe what the indicator measures,
  • Is Goal a Range? - specify Yes if the goal is a range of acceptable values; specify No if the goal is single number the hospital would like to achieve,

•    Numerator Heading,

•    Denominator Heading,

•    Numerator Desc,

•    Denominator Desc,

  • Digits after Decimal for D/N - for calculations, specify how many numbers after the decimal point are to be displayed. Precision up to 4 decimal places is available,
  • Point in Time Indicator - specify Yes if the indicator measures values at a given date and time; specify Yes if the indicator measures values aggregated over a period,
  • Suppress Report Totals - specify Yes if the aggregates for the report are to be hidden; specify No if the aggregates for the report are to be displayed,
  • Rate Heading - (for GL indicators only) specify an appropriate heading for the rate
    * - Required

When you are done with entering indicator meta data, click on the:

  • Save button to save the indicator metadata,
  • Map Accounts button to associate accounts with the indicator, or
  • Cancel button to discard any changes

Note: Please note that an indicator must be mapped to at least one account before it can be added to dashboards.

Add Indicator: Copy from an Existing Financial Indicator 

You can enter indicator meta data manually or use the Copy from an Existing Indicator feature to copy the meta data from an indicator that already exists.

Click the Copy from an Existing Indicator (Pencil) icon at the top right of the Add Meta Data page.

The page displays list of existing indicators. Click on an indicator name to select it. This action populates the Add Meta Data page with meta data from the indicator selected.

Note: * - Please note that while all other details are copied, the Indicator Name is not. The name must be different from any existing financial indicator.

When you are done with entering the meta data, click on the:

  • Save button to save the indicator metadata,
  • Map Accounts button to map accounts to the indicator, or
  • Cancel button to discard any

Add Indicator: Mapping Accounts to a Financial Indicator

To map accounts from the Add Indicator page, click on the Map Accounts button at the bottom of the page. This action displays the Account Mapping grid.
