Dataset Filters

Dataset filters typically help you filter your report by time. You can specify whether you would like the report generated for the Fiscal Year, the Calendar Year or specific Dates you enter.

Dataset Filters

You can also specify the type of Date such as Discharge/Service Date or Admit/Service Date by selecting an entry in the Select Date Type dropdown.

For reports which contain Fiscal and Calendar Period filters, you can select Time Period as well.

When you set the dataset filter for a report, and click Go, the RAPID database is queried for records based on criteria you have specified.

Dates Used for Filtering Reports and their Precedence Rules

Some RAPID reports can be filtered by Date Type where the date type filter allows a combination of Admit/Service Date or Discharge/Service Date. The To Date and From Date you supply might be used to look at either type of date you're filtering by depending on RAPID precedence rules.

The date used varies from patient to patient and depends on the InpatientOrOutpatient flag, which is available in the Field List on some reports and views. If the InpatientOrOutpatient flag is set to Inpatient (i.e. InpatientOrOutpatient = 'I'), the Admit Date takes precedence over Service Date when both exist. Similarly, Discharge Date takes precedence over Service Date when both exist. If the InpatientOrOutpatient flag is set to Outpatient (i.e. InpatientOrOutpatient = 'O'), the Service Date takes precedence over Admit Date when both exist. It also takes precedence over Discharge Date when both exist.
