CMS EHR Certification ID

You must obtain your own unique CMS EHR Certification ID from the Certified Health IT Product List website cart.

Four Steps to obtaining and reporting your CMS EHR Certification ID Number

  1. Visit Certified Health IT Product List website at https://chpl.healthit.gov/#/search
  2. Product Search

To demonstrate Meaningful Use (MU), all EHR products in use during the reporting period must be selected. If you changed versions of an EHR during the reporting period, select both products. If you use EHR modules rather than a full EHR package, each module must be selected. In addition, since Medisolv is providing the data and/or reporting the data, you must also select Medisolv as a certified vendor.

  1. Obtain CMS EHR Certification ID

Be sure to also download the documents as they must be kept for a minimum of six years.

  1. Enter Certification ID in the appropriate field before you create your Medisolv Snapshot.

Step 1: Visit the Certified Health IT Products (CHPL) List website

Step 2: When you begin to enter the Developer or Product into the search field, the screen will change to the one below. You can also enter the Product or CHPL ID number. You can view the details and/or compare options if you are not sure what product to select. Search for certified complete EHR products or EHR modules by browsing all products. Click the yellow ‘+Cert ID’ button to add to your list.

For this example, Medisolv has five products. The most recent inpatient version of the product is the second item listed:

Encor- v4.0.1.1-CHP-023269

Once selected you will see your ‘CMS ID Creator’ list. The goal is to reach 100% MU for the first three items: Base Criteria, CQM Domains, and Inpatient CQMs.

Note: If you changed EHR’s or versions during the reporting period the first EHR selected may illustrate 100%. In this case you still must select both versions along with Encor.

In this example the MU Base Criteria is at 52%. You still need to select the EHR Product(s) you are using.

Note: To open the ‘CMS ID Creator’ box above, click on the ‘CMS ID Creator’ button. To close box, click on the ‘CMS ID Creator’ button again.

Next, you will need to select the EHR Product you are using. If you are using the Developers complete EHR product, you only need to add the current EHR Product. If you are using modules, select all modules you use.

You can either enter the Developer or Product name in the ‘search field’ or you can quickly narrow the list. Since Medisolv was a short list using the search box is easy to use.

To prevent the need to read through several pages of Meditch products, it is quicker to narrow down the list, click on the ‘More’ button to the right of the search box. Enter the Developer and version number. This will return a list based on criteria entered.

Select the EHR Product by clicking on the ‘+Cert ID’ button to the right of the product name.

The following example is the list compiled based on the search criteria above. In this case, all 6.0 products are listed. To minimize and maximize the criteria selection box, click the ‘More’ button again. The information entered will remain available to review later.

Step 3: In the example below, both the Medisolv- Encor and Meditech Products are selected. They are listed at the top of the ‘CMS ID Creator’ drop down. All three required criteria are at 100%. You are ready to generate your EHR Cert ID. To generate your CMS EHR Certification ID, click the yellow button ‘Get CMS EHR Certification ID’.

Note: This is only an example. You should select the EHR product(s) in use during the reporting period.

Step 4: Enter Certification ID in the appropriate field before you create your Medisolv Snapshot. At this time, you can also download the information for record keeping. CMS requires documentation be available for six years.
